Flight From Reality

Once in a while, I’d go away. Well, actually, at least once a year, I’d go away. This year, twice. So when I’m away, I schedule a post to tell you I’m away. Lest some of you diligent readers think I’ve forgotten you. Though, I highly doubt that. Still I’d like to think the absence of a weekly post is noticeable… at least to some. But is it though? No, I shouldn’t ask. I might not like the honest comments.

So, yes, I’m away this week. I boarded a plane and flew from reality. And despite the uncomfortable budget flight, I’m loving it. Seeing the world is a hobby of mine. Absorbing the experiences outside of the norm – being in a new environment that requires me to adapt – allows me to feel, see, touch, smell, and taste something useful. It helps a great deal in my writing. From the countryside of Guilin, to the hustle and bustle of Seoul; from going unnoticed in Tokyo to the hospitality of Tasmania, traveling feeds my imagination. What is reality to some, is fantasy to me. And that’s why I need to go away.

If you’d like to know what I’m up to, especially during my globe-trotting weeks, head over to Instagram and Twitter. I upload pictures on both social media sites more frequently in new territories. But if you have no interest except for reading, there are tons of wonderful stuff here. I’d like to think they’re somewhat wonderful. Though some might disagree – you can be the judge. Until I get back and write another chapter of The Clubhouse, I hope you find something entertaining. If not, don’t worry, I’ll be back. There will be more to come and I promise, the new materials planned for 2017 are going to be fun.

Random, post script, fun fact: Did you know there’s a ‘Categories’ drop-down menu in the sidebar?

No Posts on 21 & 28

Heads up dear reader, there will be no posts today and on the 28th of April. That’s because I’m taking a vacation in the picturesque island of Tasmania! It’ll be a silent two weeks, but I’ll be back 🙂

If you’re missing me already (which I highly doubt) you can use the lack of posts to catch up on The Clubhouse, read already published short stories and fan fictions, or spam me with comments. I’ll also try to be active on Twitter. So if you wanna come along my little trip, you can do so over social media 🙂 I’ll try to tweet pictures daily, as proof I’m still alive and well. That should be fun. Haha! Also, did you know I have an Instagram account?

*Oh and don’t forget to join the Goodreads paperback giveaway of The Battle for Oz! Also, submit your comment HERE to win the e-book version! You only have 4 days left to enter.

Don’t ask me why this is here. I just thought it fitting. And I don’t even know why.

No Post Today!

noposttoday

Technically, this is a post, but at the same time, this isn’t a normal post. What I’m trying to say is that this post is written and scheduled in advance to post today… because as you read these words, I’m most probably out doing family visitations in occasion with the first day of the Lunar New Year. Oh, and if you’re celebrating it too, 新年快乐! Happy Chinese New Year!

Potterheads will get this reference.

Anyway, since there will be no The Clubhouse post today, the polls will be extended till this Sunday. For those who need time catching up, here’s your chance! But if you’re not into The Clubhouse and you want something to read, you can check out my short stories and fan fictions. And if short reads are not your cup of tea and you want something more solid, check out my bookshop. Also, consider making an investment, by pre-ordering my newest novel by Inkshares. Yes, today’s post is a shameless plugging post 😛 And I’m not done!

How indecent!

If you want to get in touch with me and stay updated, head on to Facebook! And Twitter! Follow and Like! I’ll probably tweet and post my outfit or the amount of ang pows (red packets filled with cash) I’ve collected today. Who knows? Maybe I’ll tweet/post about random stuff too, like a normal person. I’ll be more active on social media the next few days, because the holidays are the only time my life seems a little more exciting. Haha! So be sure to check out my pages 🙂 I’ll appreciate any response to my shameless plugging. Oh yes, I would.

Well, that’s it. I guess that’s all for today. Happy ang pow collecting and have a great weekend ahead!

*Btw I saw a real owl last week and I posted the story on Facebook. See, you’re missing out! The owl perched on my windowsill while I was sleeping. Can’t help but wonder… perhaps it had a letter for me 🙂

2015, Here We Go!

Untitled

The crowd-funding project for The Battle For Oz is over and guess what? It is a success!

I have never imagined raising this much money in such a short time and I’m just so excited! I had a super huge backer a few days before it ended, who practically gave enough to cover the remaining shortage. Thank God! Yes, thank God and that backer!

But they are not the only ones that deserve my gratitude. Firstly, I want to thank my parents for their support. They really went out of their way and helped me seek potential funders among their friends. They were more gung ho than me, boldly getting their friends on board. It’s safe to say, the majority of funds were raised because of their friends. And to be honest, I did not even ask them to do so, they just did. Thanks mum and dad ❤

Secondly, I want to say thank you to every casual adventurer, realm traveller, and chosen one. The project was funded by 147 people, but the actual number is more than that. A lot of people handed me cash, and though their names are not in the system, I’m extremely grateful for their support.

And lastly, thank YOU 🙂 All those who tweeted, Facebooked, reblogged and funded the project, thank you so, so much.

That being said, I promised to do a lucky draw for subscribers who funded a minimum of 5USD to the project during the crowd-funding stage. But since not many participated, I’ve decided to just give a free copy to each subscriber that funded the project. I have sent you guys an email about it, so be sure to hit reply with your details 🙂 *If I left you out, let me know.

If you are new to my blog and would like to know more about The Battle For Oz, you can pre-order the book HERE. It is currently priced at 17.99$, which includes shipping. I would definitely update you on the progress of publication through this blog as days go by. Hopefully, I would be able to hold the book in my hands soon. Gosh, I can’t wait!

The Battle For Oz could finally be my big break. But even though I do not know where this book will take me or how my career as an author will take off after this, I know I could not have done it without the faith I’ve gotten from every supporter. My journey might still be a long one, but I know that dreams CAN come true, if you and I believe 🙂

Thank you once again! Now, excuse me while I digest the fact that this is really happening.

*Shameless plugging time: it has been awhile so… like me on Facebook! Follow me on Twitter!
#TheBattleForOz if you have any questions or would like to find updates through social media. O.k, goodbye!

1111 on 1101

1111

I was never good with binary numbers, so I had to google to find out that 1111 is 15 in binary code. Yes, I never liked maths (which we commonly pronounced in my country as Mets. And I have no idea why).

Anyways, I would like to thank all my 1111 followers 🙂 I hope all of you would stick around till I hit 2222!

Thank you for reading, spending your time, and your kindness for giving my works a shot.

Now that I’m moving more towards originals, I somewhat have a fear that you won’t enjoy it. Because posting up originals means unfamiliarity to you guys, and it feels like a risky move. So if you are still around, reading my latest original series, I really want to thank you for it 🙂

There is no doubt that have I garnered most of my followers from my fan fictions, but like I said before, a writer always have to move forward. I won’t be stopping with fan fics, don’t worry, because I still believe it is a perfect platform to practice my writing.

So… you’re probably wondering why I pointed out that 1111 = 15, well, I have been nominated for different awards since I started my blog, but I never took on any because I wanted my blog to be professional instead of personal. Since I have the chance now, I might as well give you guys 15 random things about myself to make up for it 🙂

(I would have done a video for this, but I was too lazy to shoot and edit it. It takes a couple of hours for the whole process and I have my second novel prioritized right now.)

Here goes the 15!

1. I’m a lazy reader. I like reading but SOMETIMES I rather stare at my wallpaper than read.

2. I occasionally host for my church’s weekly broadcast. My mom suggested I apply a job as a newscaster, but I still don’t know if I should. I’ll link a video of my latest hosting on my twitter page this weekend, so do check it out and let me know what you think.

3. I like playing computer games. My favourite game ‘type’ is first person shooter. I play CS, SA, Halo, L4D/2 with cheat codes embedded in my brain, and COD when given the chance. Surprising huh?

4. I just turned 22 last December, I’m from Malaysia and I’m Chinese. I did not want to reveal my age, country and race before because I was trying to escape the stereotype. It’s hard to compete in a world where most famous authors are not Asians, and I did not want my readers to assume before they read my works.

5. I can speak English, and ‘city’ Malay that incorporates English. No, I can’t speak Chinese. If I ever attempted, it will be a mix of three dialects and I would sound ridikulus.

6. I enjoy Hong Kong TVB dramas. It teaches me Cantonese, and its predictably entertaining.

7. My favourite colours are yellow and green. My shortest colour pencils are always the yellow ones.

8. I used to write in British English, like I am right now, but the red lines underneath the words bothered me so I converted.

9. I’m in Slytherin. I always knew I was.

10. I’m good in poker, when it does not involve real money. And I’m also really good in Bluff, which explains why I’m in Slytherin.

11. Since we’re on the Harry Potter topic, my favourite HP book is Goblet of Fire. I just love the thought of other Wizarding schools.

12. I have visited many countries around the world (Venice, Germany, France, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, to name a few) when I was around the age of two. I remember nothing.

13. In high school, I wrote more poems than stories. Two of my poems were published in the local newspaper, and I believe it was because it had a depressing theme. The titles were ‘Death’ and ‘If’.

14. R. L Stine was the only author I used to read every book I can find. And Owl City is the only musician/singer I enjoy every song released.

15. I completed my first TV series pilot script in 2008. And I hope to be able to produce it, as well as turn my novels into films one day.

Well, that’s all 15!

Thanks once again for your support! If you have any questions you would like me to answer in video, ask with the hashtag #askjeynagrace on twitter. If there are quite a number of questions, I’ll do a video 🙂

Last but not least, follow me on twitter and like me on facebook for random daily updates!

Have an awesome day 🙂
