Writing & Milestones

writingandmilestones

I’ve recently been posting ‘thank you’ posts at very random milestones, but I’ll be setting it straight soon.

Anyway, since we’re on this topic, I just want to say thank you to all 5,690 subscribers! It’s nice to know that even though I’ve completely moved out of fan fiction and started my own blog series, new readers are still coming on board. Thank you for that! I really appreciate the support. I’m not a great writer, but I certainly have great readers 🙂

Now, on to random updates…

#1 The Battle For Oz Project

Exitium CoverThe crowd-funding project is currently at the 58% mark and I have 37 days left to complete the funding. Do you think I can do it? Could this finally be my big break? For one, I surely can’t do it without you!

So if you feel like spreading the cheer this season by giving a passionate dreamer an early Christmas gift (or birthday gift cause my birthday is just around the corner, tee hee), do head to the project page and pre-order a copy of the novel. Your support will leave a ripple in my life and I would greatly appreciate it.

*If you don’t know what this project is about, the project page will fill you in. Just spare me an extra 5 minutes and give it a read.

#2 The Clubhouse

How has it been for you? It gets better, I promise. The beginning is a little slow as I myself have very little control over how the story evolves, but I do hope to include some interesting twists along the way. Honestly, it has not been easy writing those chapters but I’m glad you still read them and vote every week.

I can only gauge the number of readers based on the votes, and though it may only be a few, I’ll still keep it up. The goal of The Clubhouse is for me to practice character development and I’m just happy you’re tagging along 🙂 Besides, once I start something I make sure to finish it. No one likes it when a TV series gets cancelled halfway, am I right?

If you have any suggestion for the series, do let me know. The comments on those chapters are scarce and I could really use some feedback.

#3 New Books In 2015

Or at least I hope it will be 🙂

I have plans to release a bunch of new books next year. If The Battle For Oz project is a success, I might have the chance to use the profit from that book to publish my other books in paperback too!

Currently, I have a few books just waiting to hit the market. How far these books can go really boils down to the success of The Battle For Oz. So echoing what I’ve said earlier, please check out the crowd-funding project.

Books I plan to publish in 2015:
– The Slave Prince (Novel)
– Dr Slubgob’s Letters (Novella)
– Love Tank (Novelette)
– AND of course, The Battle For Oz (Novel)

#4 Thank You Again

To end, I just want to say thank you once again. I’ve come a long way as a writer and perhaps I still have a long journey ahead, but your support has helped me push forward. I honestly do not know if I would make it one day, but having readers like you remind me that I can. Thank you for simply being here. I hope you will continue to stick around, even if the only success I have as a writer is this blog 🙂

Thanks for being awesome and have a good weekend!

Fly On The Wall

fly on the wall

The first time I learnt about the fly on the wall was in university during a documentary class. It is basically a documentary style where cameras are placed as observation tools that do not affect (debatable) the characters. Simply put, a fly on the wall is like a CCTV, monitoring what is going on.

So, what does that have to do with you? Inkshares recently created a platform where you can be a fly on the wall for my crowd-funding project. You don’t have to fund the project, but you will get updates just like other backers. You can just… watch. I will start updating my backers more frequently as I want to share with them the behind the scenes of writing The Battle For Oz. Should you be interested, head on to the project page and sign up as a fly right above the funding section 🙂

If you’re new here and have no idea what project I’m talking about, visit the project page and you’ll find everything you need to know there.

Anyway, that’s all for this random yet slightly educational post for non-film graduates. Have a great weekend!

#5,540

I have reached 5540 subscribers today 🙂 Yippee yay! Thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate all the comments, shares, likes, and re-blogs, and I’m grateful for your time spent at my little corner of the internet. I’m happy that you have decided to join me on my fictional adventures and I hope you will continue to stay on board. Thank you!

#3,513

makeadreamcometrueAs bloggers, you and I have a desire to share our voices with anyone who would listen. So, you understand me more than anyone else. If you’re an indie writer, you get me even more! Help me amplify my voice to the world. I know I’m asking you to support my dream when you have dreams of your own, but you also know that dreams don’t just come true by wishing on a star; dreams come true when you and I believe.

3513 is actually the exact number of dollars I’m short in completing The Battle For Oz crowd-funding project. I’m more than halfway funded, but I need your help to give me a boost. This is the time where I need just a little more from you.

I hate asking people for money, but to have you back me up would mean a lot. After all, you’ve subscribed because you believe in me, right? I would appreciate if you could have a little more faith 🙂 Trust that this would be a huge stepping stone and it would give me a good kick start to publish more books; books I hope to share with you.

I only have  65 days left to complete the funding project and time can really fly. Please check out the project when you have the time. I would appreciate it. You can also read more about the paperback giveaway should you be interested in winning a copy.

I hope you would give me your support. The world may not need me as another author, but the world could use a fresh conviction that dreams can come true when we stand together and believe 🙂

Keeping this short and sweet, thank you once again for staying with me. I’m looking forward to greater adventures with you!

We Are Definitely Not in Kansas Anymore!

Check out what this book blogger has to say about The Battle For Oz: Exitium!

Exitium is the first out of three parts in the complete novel. It can be downloaded HERE for free. If you wish to see the complete novel in bookstores near you, be sure to check out the crowd-funding project for it. I need all the help I can get, and your support would mean a lot to me 🙂

*Do note that the artworks in Exitium would not be in the complete novel.

Scale of Books

The Battle For Oz – Book one: Exitium by Jeyna Grace:

I think we have all, at the very least, heard of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. A delightful children’s novel by L. Frank Baum. The novel has had countless remakes, movies and plays, it has inspired new stories and been the focus of many literary commentaries, not to mention its presence in various classrooms.

Is it not then refreshing to find a whole new take on this beloved classic? Is it not intriguing to find out what might have happened after the death of the Wicked Witch and Dorothy’s return to Kansas?

exitium-cover

I thought so, at any rate, when I started reading the first few pages of The Battle For Oz, Book 1: Exitium by Jeyna Grace. And in truth, that thought remained with me throughout. Evil queens, magic, monstrous guards, and a heroine or two? What’s not to…

Win A Paperback Copy Of The Battle For Oz

paperbackwin

Yes, you heard me right! I have decided to give back.

If my crowd-funding project for The Battle For Oz is a success, I would get a few copies of the book in paperback myself. AND I intend to give those books away to 10 lucky subscribers!

I would write you a personal message, sign the book, and mail it to you. I hate going to post offices, but I will go anyway.

Note: This is only open to the subscribers of my blog, why? No legitimate reason.

So, how do you enter?

#1 Visit The Battle For Oz crowd-funding page and fund a minimum of 5 USD. (Payable via credit/debit cards)

#2 Once you do so, I will receive an email with your name and contact. Since I get contributions from non-blog subscribers as well, I’ll need you to reply to my email stating you’re a subscriber.

#3 You can fund as many times as you like, which will increase your chances of winning the paperback copy.

Once the project is fully funded and the books are delivered to me, I will do a video with me drawing names out of a box to choose the winners 🙂

Now, you’re probably wondering, is this really a giveaway when you have to put in at least 5 USD?

The answer is yes and no.
Yes, because to get a paperback, you need to at least fund 25 USD, but now you only do so with 5 USD.
No, because your 5 USD goes to supporting me in achieving my dreams 🙂

And who knows, when I make it as a best-selling author one day, that book can be sold as the only 10 autographed first editions in the world! It’s an investment worth considering, no?

This contest will run from now till the book is fully funded. So the faster you guys enter this contest, the faster you would receive the book and the higher your chances are of wining it.

Stop hesitating and visit the project page now!

*Jonas L., Douglas R., Kirsten L., & Michelle P., your names have already been added into this giveaway for funding this project before the announcement of this contest. If I missed your name, send me an email 🙂

Busy & Blessed

busyandblessed

Let’s start with the blessed part of this post first.

I’m blessed to have all of your guys as my readers. Today, I’ve officially hit the 5,400 subscriber mark! A big thank you for all of your support and readership. I honestly don’t know what else to say, because there’s only gratitude for your subscription 🙂 I hope you will continue to support me in my future endeavours, as there are bigger adventures to come.

Now on to the busy part of this post.

I’ve been rather busy these past 10 days; contacting everyone I know, asking for funding for my crowd-funding project. I’ve exhausted my email and Facebook contacts, and I’ve even gone through 2,400 subscribers’ gravatar profiles in search for emails to send a personal message regarding the project. If you’ve gotten an email, please do consider funding me, if you have not, I’m so sorry. I could not find your email, but please consider funding me too! *I’ll still be going through the other 3,000 gravatar profiles, but it’ll take some time.*

So, how has the funding been going? Rather well actually.

In the first 10 days, today being the 10th day, I’ve hit 40% of my goal! So a huge thank you to all my family, friends and readers who have supported me so far. No matter what amount you guys gave, you helped me get this far in such a short period of time. For those who are still on the fence about backing this project, I would be so happy if you would hop on board and give me a hand. In other words, I NEED YOUR HELP! With your help, the project will be completely funded in no time! And that would mean a lot me 🙂

Click HERE to go to the project’s page.

The incentives have been tweaked to cater to smaller backers. Now, you can get an e-book for 5 USD and a paperback for 25 USD! If you would like to be the first few to read The Battle For Oz novel, don’t waste anymore time and visit the project page right now! Or at least check it out 🙂

Anyway, that’s all for this short post. Please do check out the project and thank you once again for all the support. Stay awesome guys and have a wonderful weekend!

Help Me Debut!

tbfofunding

Don’t worry, I have not forgotten about my blog project. I will release the introduction next week, as I do not want to crowd my blog with too many posts.

Now, you might be asking why; why did I push back the exciting blog project I have been talking so much about? Well, it’s because of The Battle For Oz.

If you did not read my last post, this will seem new to you, but if you did, I hope this post will nudge you to check out the project. I honestly do not like to repeat the topic of my posts, but I have to be certain I did my best to raise funds for my book.

So, what’s going on with The Battle For Oz?

I have put the novel up on a crowd-funding publishing website.

What is crowd-funding?

Crowd-funding is when you and everyone else decides to fund my book. If the funding goal is met, the book will be published. If it’s not met, you will be refunded.

Inkshares is similar to Kickstarter and Indiegogo, except it is only for books.

How much is the goal?

$7,700. That is why I need all of your help!

What happens after the project meets the goal?

The Battle For Oz will be professionally edited, designed, printed, and distributed to bookstores.

What do funders (a.k.a backers) get?

Depending on the amount funded, some will get e-books while others will receive paperbacks delivered to their doorsteps.

How do you fund this project?

Click HERE and you will be taken to the project page. There, you will be able to read about the project and select an amount to give. You can give any amount you like by clicking ‘Back This Book’.

Inkshares accepts funds through credit and debit cards.

*Minimum funding is 5USD, but with that you can get an e-book.

Until when can you fund this project?

The campaign runs from Oct 2nd 2014 to January 5th 2015.

But from today till October 11, the publisher will add an extra 5USD whenever a person decides to fund the project.

If 1,000 of you fund 5USD in the next few days, the project would be 90% completed. So you see, the minimum can make a HUGE difference!

I hope this simple break down answers any of your questions. Thank you for all the support you have shown so far and I hope you would consider supporting me in this endeavour too. I also appreciate all the Facebook shares, re-blogs, and tweets on this project. You guys are amazing!

Keeping this short and sweet, I’ll end with a shout out to all my current funders/backers: Joan Tan, Mrs Roberts, Calvin Ng, Jonas Lee, Fuibee, May Foo, Tony To, Mr Ray, Jay Low, Yean Ching & Greg, Kenny Saw, Mei Mei Yap, Angelyn Looi, Douglas, Sharon Lim, Kok Kin, Peng Sheng, Katherine Law, Elaine Ong, Cheng Yee,  and all those friends who have said they would back me up. Thank you for believing in me 🙂

Have a nice day!

Would you… invest in me?

would you invest in me

Hey there!

Yes, you over there; the well-dressed human with good looks staring at this screen. Oh, don’t be modest. I am indeed referring to you. The very person I know would give me a few minutes to make this pitch. So, how was your day? Good? Well I sure hope so, but let’s not dilly dally, I’ll get straight to the point.

So… if you’ve been following my blog, you would know that I write. A lot. I’ve also released a few books, but most of them electronically. Today, I hope to change that. How? By starting a crowd-funding project! I’ve decided to take one of my works, The Battle For Oz (novel), and put it on a platform where you, yes you, still speaking to you, can help fund! Think of it as an investment 🙂

TBFO6You’re probably going, what’s an investment with no returns? I can only say, the returns would be tons more of my work, and The Battle For Oz in paperback! Doesn’t sound compelling enough? I’ll put it this way, if you invest in me, you’re finally helping an indie author go global. There are a handful of indie (a.k.a self-published) authors that have managed to make it big, but they would not have been able to do so without their readers. I’m hoping that you, my dear awesome reader, would consider backing me up this time. If one person donates 2 USD, I would be well on my way to getting this book out. 2 USD might be a lot to some, but please do consider. That amount would go a long… long… way.

Are you sold by my terrible investment pitch? If you are and would like to know how you can fund my book, these are the steps:

#1 Visit The Battle For Oz project page.

#2 Pledge any amount. Any amount would do. Yes, ANY amount! (Certain amounts will have perks though.)

#3 Spread the word! Clicking share will determine how successful the project will be.

I’m doing this project on Inkshares, a crowd-funding publishing platform. If my project is a success, they would edit, design, print, and distribute my books worldwide! It will be a huge deal to actually have a successful project! I know the monetary goal seems huge, but Inkshares sets the optimum amount for a well published book. (Fellow writers, be sure to check Inkshares out!)

I do hope you seriously consider in giving this project a shot. It would mean the world to me to finally see a book of mine in bookstores! I know some of you have asked if you could find my books in your countries, well… this will give me the chance to say ‘yes, you can’. For those who are planning on funding The Battle For Oz, thank you in advance! I really appreciate the support, I really do 🙂

If you would like to read the first 1/3 of the book, you can download it here for free. The free copy is just a teaser, collaborated with an artist. Do note there will not be any in-book illustrations in the complete novel, as that would make the project goal too high.

So, what are you waiting for? Don’t think too much now, just check out the project!

***For the first 10 days, starting today, Inkshares will donate 5USD to my project every time a person backs it. SO, it would be a huge help even if you’re donating 1USD in the next 10 days.

(Tl;dr? Read bold words.)

Thanks for reading!

43rd TQ Post

43 tq post

I’m running out of creative titles for my ‘thank you’ posts. Apologies awesome readers, I’ll try harder next time.

So being that my title is a dead give away, there’s no point stalling. A gargantuan (since I’ve overused ‘big’) thank you to all 4,320 readers for your support and subscription. I value (since I’ve overused ‘appreciate’) your time spent and your kind comments on my posts. Your presence is of great significance (since I’ve overused ‘mean’) to me, and I am happy knowing that my words have entertained you 🙂 I hope you would continue to support me and continue to stick around as we go on more fictional escapades.

(That was slightly more creative than my title. Haha!)

Now on to a short update, well… not really. This is actually a last call to download my latest novella, Raindrops!

Raindrops Raindrops will be free to download on Gumroad till May 30th in PDF format. That is because on May 31st, The Battle For Oz: Exitium will be released! Since Exitium will be free, Raindrops will be priced at 0.99$. So if you have not downloaded it yet, do so now!

Also, if you would like Raindrops in epub and mobi formats, you can visit Screwpulp. The first 25 copies on Screwpulp will be free for download, but after that, the price will slowly increase based on the number of downloads.

Since March, Raindrops has gotten quite a number of downloads. So for all those who have downloaded and read Raindrops, I just wanna thank you guys. I do hope you enjoyed it and I would love to hear your thoughts. You can either leave your feedback or review on Goodreads or you can send me an email 🙂 Either way, I would be happy to hear from you.

I guess that is all for this post 🙂 I have a lot of plans for my blog and a couple more e-books being released this year, so I’m counting on you to stay with me as I continue to tread the waters of the indie ocean. Thank you once again for your subscription and have a great week!

(*Current blog post schedule: A post every Thursday alternating between an original short story and a Harry Potter fan fic novel.)

4.1 Cheesy But True

4.1 cheesy but true4.1k subscribers and I’m still going! I don’t think I would ever stop blogging, so please hold me accountable to that. And while you’re at it, I guess you also know why I don’t plan on ever putting a halt to blogging. Wait.. you don’t? Well, it’s because of you!

O.k, that sounded cheesy. Perfect for the cheesy banner too. Haha! But it’s true. Cheesy but true 🙂

Thank you for being a subscriber and a supporter of my blog. By now, some of you might be bored with these cliche ‘thank you’ posts, but I shall keep them going. I don’t want you to ever forget that you’re important to me. If it means annoying you, then I hope this would be a good kind of annoyance. After all, how can one not thank their readers? I sure can’t!

So simply put, thank you for reading 😀

Now…

More on Raindrops!

For those who have downloaded my novella, thank you so much! I hope you are enjoying it so far. Do let me know what you think of it and please leave a rating on Goodreads once you’re done. Knowing you enjoy my works always makes my day 🙂

If you have not downloaded it or wanted to read Raindrops but don’t like it in pdf format, here’s some good news. I’ve placed Raindrops on Screwpulp and you can now download it in epub and mobi formats. So if you prefer those formats, please head on HERE to get a copy. For these versions, only the first 25 copies will be downloadable for free as per the website’s default setting. After that, it automatically goes up to USD 1$.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what Screwpulp is, you should totally check it out. Readers get to read books for free in exchange for reviews and ratings. So if you’re an avid reader who likes to explore indie works, you will like this site. AND if you’re an author hoping to get more ratings and reviews, then this is a great place to put your books. Be sure to download my novella too!

Anyway, that is all for this post 🙂 Thank you so much for your subscription and your support. I’m so glad I have all of you!

(*Current blog post schedule: A post every Thursday alternating between an original short story and a Harry Potter fan fic novel. Don’t worry non-potterheads, I’ll try not to disappoint you with my short stories 🙂 )
